The increase was 20% above the previous six month premium. A representative from our Agent called several days after I had sent them an email explaining the shock and disgust. Has hard as she tried to explain and justify the $123.00 ($477 to $600) increase for the policy period...well it wasn't happening. No one will ever convince me it was nothing more than age discrimination.
We have turned 70. I can recall being in that 18-25 bracket and having to pay disgustingly high premiums...whether you are a bad driver or not. I must assume 70+ is another one of those guilty by association categories. That is a strong lobby when you can get away with legal age discrimination.
So now we have put our trust in GEICO for our auto and motorcycle insurance needs. Not sure how working with a Gecko will turn out. His hands are not quite as large as those of Allstate...but maybe they won't be as greedy either.
We'll see how it goes. Oh, our six month premium for the auto...same policy limits and deductibles, plus some other coverage items not on the Allstate Policies, like towing. $326.00. I had to switch.
I guess I could have lied about how much mileage we drive a year. The rep that called strongly suggested this as an option to lower the premium nearly $60. Then if I ever had a claim...how convenient...I committed Insurance Fraud. I guess not only have I gotten older but Dumb and Dumber are my advisers. I don't think so.
Fifty plus years with Allstate Auto and it ends. Sounds silly but Elaine and I are sad it ended this way. I don't think Allstate gives a rats ass.
Until you reach a certain age...then our hands are gonna cost you.
